Went to Dr. Henson in Salina to have my teeth scraped and polished. Slept thru most of it. No cavities. Then it was back home and then on to Hillsboro for a staff meeting. Nothing really urgent to discuss except for the Christmas party which I probably won’t attend. Later it was flu shot time.

Then it was back home to finish 941’s & KS Unempl. Made several calls for SSN’s and W-4’s. That finally all came together and then started to make deliveries, but had to cancel the Hutch people since one of them wouldn’t be back till very late & I couldn’t waste time between 2 stops.

Checked on Jim and glad to find things going much better for him. Went to Applebees about 9PM for supper. Also had a nice call from Jacob. Sounds like they will have a cold hike at Kanopolis. Dress warm everyone!!!

Now that I’m back home and finishing the last 2 I am discovering some major problems that need to be resolved before I need to take off for Hutch at the very painful hour of 7:30AM. That means very little sleep tonight, but tomorrow night should be great.

Happy Birthday Jeff!!!!!!!!!!!     Age 20 :) I guess it’s officially Monday now. About 1AM.

For some trivia: Harold informed me that today (Sunday) is the first day Louise is a teenager and the last day Jeff is a teenager. I guess that will never happen again. Happy Birthday to you both!

Went to Church. SS was on I Cor 6 and some interesting discussions on when or if it’s OK to go to court, etc. Seemed to be more people there than usual. David Y had the sermon on God’s mercy which simply put is not rec the consequences we deserve. Also read most of the story of Joseph in Genesis which I always enjoy.

Had a carryin in honor of the ministers at Noon. Appreciate all they do for us. I ate with Willard and Lester Yutzy and remember this same group for a prior carryin in the library. Then Alex showed me & Lois Yoder his Paraguay pictures. Very nice. Lois was also in Paraguay as a midwife for several years. Then Alex went to Willards to rest & I decided to just come on home as I was strangely wide awake at the time.

Richard told me things are progressing quickly on selling their KS house. I know the young couple they are working with, but don’t think it’s public information in this area yet.

Found out one of my classmates from high school: Terri Barnett and her husband are going to be missionaries in South Africa. Their contract is for 4 years and they are allowed 1 visit back to the US for a major family event for that entire 4 year period. Seems rather stiff for Beachy standards. Didn’t find out what mission organization they are with.

Rested up most of the evening. One more deadline Tues for 941’s and KS Unempl. Not much I can do till daylight hours, so will probably go back to bed soon. Waiting on a big pile of W-4’s for needed SSN’s for the KS Unempl report. Been hard to get this info.

Talked to John today…..congrats again on your blissful Sat morning:) Good to talk to u again!!

Had a nice call from Ryan who reports to me that there will be a big party at school tomorrow and then Tues a field trip to Kanopolis to hike. I feel deprived. Don’t remember many events like that when I was in school.

Going thru many stacks of mail, but the piles seem to be growing instead of decreasing. Most of it is going into the shredder.

Ohh…..yes Ryan. I really am trying hard to get better. Don’t think I’m contagious anymore. Anyway, have fun on all your events for the next few days.

Slept in late again. Nice & warm & sunny out. Went to Hillsboro & picked up my blood profile & my cholesterol is 180 and within normal limits: 0 to 200. Can’t imagine how that can be, but am grateful.

I was informed they are short of staff at the hospital & I said I would come in at supper time. So came back for 2 hours. We had a new agency nurse there for the first time and the other one is still fairly new, so a big ER would be a stressful event. We had one very minor one show up. Later, my old DON from about 1988 to 1992, Jane King, stopped by to drop off a lab specimen from her current job. She was one of my all time favorite supervisors.

Cont on reconciling a store’s Quickbooks file to the bank statement and made it from July to year-to-date so am pleased with that progress. That took only 8 hours of my time today. Ate at Olde Towne which is just down the street and had their German buffet. Saw a bunch of people I hadn’t seen in ages.

I was finished by 2AM & went home & was pleased to discover I had forgotten the time change. SOOOO that means another hour of sleep. Guess I will go enjoy that now.

Slept in till 10AM & then went to Hillsboro for a blood profile. I’m tolerating the blood draw better than I used to, but still not easy. I think from a trauma in my very early life. Will pick up the results tomorrow sometime.

Stopped to talk with the lady who is entering invoices for one of my clients and discussed down payments going into a liability account instead of sales. That went well. Cold and rainy & back home & had some more BBQ ribs. Then to Salina to have the oil changed in my car. Way past due this time. Found about 6 things that needed attention, including a tire with 3 nails in it (it was only slightly low in air pressure). They had me look at the tire & they were right, of course. The usual 30 minutes wait time turned into 4 hours & a $300 plus bill.

Watched some young one build leggo towers and then watch them fall, etc etc. Glad the sun finally came out. Then went to see Jim & he is not doing well at all. This is about the worst shape he’s been in, so it was a discouraging nite. He did eat some after we went to the German buffet at Moundridge which he really likes. Home again & still not up to par with my cold, but getting better.

Slept most of the AM away to rest up for a busy shift at the hospital. Or so I thot. I had been warned that the census is high & a lot of sick staff members, so wanted to be rested up as much as possible.

Ate some BBQ ribs that Dad brought home last night…..very carefully & slowly & all was well. It was a delicious meal. Stopped at the bank to exchange some cash and the usual grief from Krys there. I wanted some $10’s & $20’s & she could only give me $20’s & $10’s. Think I finally left with the desired cash. Stopped to pick up a KS Unempl form (due on Oct 31). Main Street Delite already has a new sign up & it will be a Mexican Restaurant now.

Surprised to find out the high census had been reduced to 2 pts & we dismissed another one at 4PM, so of course that left one. I had planned to go to Hadassa’s wedding in Arkansas this weekend, but called Calvin’s last night to say I probably wouldn’t make it due to the high hospital census and not getting off early like I had hoped. As it turned out it would have worked afterall, but with my cold I think I will just stay put.

No ER’s & a quiet night. Lots of colds and coughs among staff, so the saying is true that misery loves company. Heard about tornadoes in Gray County & the sheriff at Sheridan County was shot and killed today at Hoxie. This is Darcee’s home town. (U all know where that is don’t u). Anyway, I got off at 11PM & found myself driving home in a driving rain & lots of lightning to the north. Still getting used to very muddy country roads. Don’t mind a bit.

That’s all for now. c u all later

Up at the predawn hour of 8AM. Couldn’t sleep any more with this hacking cough. One of the hazards of the hospital job is being coughed on by elderly pneumonia pts. I was subjected to a heavy spray of germs over the weekend and have succumbed due to not getting enough sleep.

Went back to Hillsboro & cont on the sales tax dilemma and finally had that done & the forms filled out by about 2PM. I ate a ham & cheese sandwich at Main Street Delite & it is now public information that they will be closing tomorrow. I will miss their cheesy potatoes. One item that may have contributed to their closing was putting VERY generous helpings of food on the plates. I was always appreciative of that.

A steady rain most of the day and home & did several payrolls. Went to TRG and it was a bit more difficult than I was expecting. I’m glad I was alone in there most of the time. Uncle Warren’s place is empty and Ranger dog was not there asking for his doggie biscuit. With all this sadness, I must say the entire place was enveloped with a peaceful presence of God.

Went back home & finished the last sales tax form which required a lengthy session of Quickbooks entry for 3 months to get an amount for total sales. Got everything signed, sealed and ready to mail and made the mad dash to the Salina PO arriving at 7:45PM with 15 minutes to spare.

Stopped at Dillons for a few items, cough syrup for one. Then had a very long ride home. I didn’t make it to Church tonight. At the earliest I would have arrived just before closing at 9PM and I simply didn’t have the strength to make that trip tonight. Slept 2 miles from town for about an hour before I could make it the rest of the way home.

Surprised at how muddy it is. The roads are just sopping wet, and that is a good thing. Just didn’t realize how much it had really rained.

Will be off to bed shortly and am nearly being overcome by sleepiness now.

au revoir for now

Another exhausting day of sales tax and KS withholding. Spent most of the day in Hillsboro. Arrived there at 11AM & went straight through till 4:30PM when it was time to make a mad dash to Hutch to do more of the same. Took a short 5 minute nap while there & was completely out which revived me somewhat. Back to Hillsboro and had a quick bite at a local place. Had lots of Hillsboro sausage and cheesy potatoes. Quite good. More sales tax into the night.

Still making phone calls that aren’t being returned. Found out today that one of them was in Mississippi and just returned home tonight. Of course after I was out of the area for the night. Lots of challenges with upfront deposits and then a final billing later. Some of these have sales tax charged twice (incorrect) , so they need to be checked over very carefully.

Hope to get it done tomorrow & then there’s all the payroll jobs to do………….

Made a quick stop to see Blake and his father and family. He can hop around without his prosthetic leg and get where he wants with no trouble at all. Quite a little guy!!

Had a double blessing with calls from 2 of my ‘boys’, namely Ryan and Jacob, tonight. Just the pickup to keep me going. (Appreciate the kind comment about your cuz’s Ryan)  :)   Heard about some humorous conversations involving a young child. hmmmm!!!

Stopped to see Jim. He was hungry so we went to Sonic and he got 2 coneys with jalapenos. That proved to be an unfortunate food selection. Details upon request.

Tired and can barely hold my eyes open. Later

Congratulations to Rebecca and Jenna on their volleyball team winning 1st place at their tournament!!

Today was a day of a lot of phone calls, errands and doing sales tax. Found out one of my clients is shutting down a business Thurs. Sorry it didn’t work out.

Several missing documents this quarter and I’ve spent a lot of time on the ksrevenue site downloading various items and getting destination base sales tax rates. What an endless job that is!! All the merrier with my dial up connection.

It seems I’m having a lot of turnover with businesses and clients. Am about ready for some stability in that area, but glad people are still contacting me. Unfortunately I’ve had to turn several new people down as I want to concentrate on my existing clients. Many of them are starting new businesses and that’s about all I can handle.

Another long day tomorrow, so will close for now.

Went to Church today in a sleepy fog. SS was on I Cor 5. Julian had the sermon on fellowship with God & with each other. Also mentioned some items discussed at the youth retreat. Heard that Ella Nisly had a bad fall in OH and was to have surgery on her neck later today in Ft Wayne IN. Hope she has a speedy recovery. Also heard a bit more about the big parade yesterday and the involvement of Nisly Brothers.

Rested a bit at Fannie’s, but not nearly enough. Then picked up a bank statement at cousin Steve’s at Buhler to be processed hopefully on Monday. A typical Sunday at work, but seemed more than the usual number of people were watching sports. One 80 something lady was watching the Colts-Washington football game & trying to teach me some importants facts and info about this wonderful sport. Made a quick call to Jdeany when the final score was 36-22 for Colts and had a good chat and to boast my recently learned football prowess.

I must say it’s remarkable how these 80 to 90 year old Hillsboro women are such avid sports fans. In fact some could actually give Jdeany some competition on the football level of interest. As for myself……………….that does not look promising at present.

Only 1 very minor ER and one big battle with sleepiness. Must have paced the place several miles to stay awake. Finally started waking up about time to go home & of course now, I am wide awake. Plan to go to bed soon anyway. Tomorrow looks like a frightful day of racing to beat the Wed sales tax deadline.

Sleep well

Woke up to a cold, wet wintry-like day. Wore my winter coat again. Went to Aunt Vivians for the Noon meal. She had some BBQ meatballs which definitely appealed to my taste buds. Still a lot of food to eat. She is really busy with thank you cards now and is still getting stacks of sympathy cards about 5 inches thick every day and is going through all those. She is very happy with the memorial donations for Answers in Genesis and will be a lifetime member because of the memorials. This organization was very important to Uncle Warren.

Made several phone calls for 3rd qtr payroll info, but not getting very far and not getting many return calls. So that means another rushed deadline for Wed (sigh).

Went to Hillsboro and actually had 2 other payroll and sales tax people drop off their info there which was really convenient. A very slow night and no ER’s (sob)

Heard there is a big snowstorm in Colorado, but don’t know if it’s on the high plains or just in the mountains. Haven’t heard from the big volleyball game yet. Hope it went well for the girls.

Guess that’s all for now.
