Spent the entire day cooped up in the house. We had a huge rain last night which is great for the plants & crops, but I don’t particularly enjoy being out in this cold wet weather.

Got several small tax returns done and it’s really nice seeing the finished stack growing for once. I called the male side of the previously mentioned divorce case & had a good chat. Hope to develop a good relationship with both attorneys also. There’s alwasy 2 sides to every breakup, but I’m trying to be as neutral as possible and I will NOT belittle the other person. Anyway I think we’re all on track so far. I do realize this could be opening up a lot of liability, but am willing for the risk.

Vivian is on a cruise this week in the Caribbean and plans are to stop in Cozumel, Montego Bay and even Haiti. She is travelling with her brother & family from Topeka. As it turns out, Carl & Darcee are also on a cruise in the same area, but on a different ship. Hope they all have a great time.

Went to the Courthouse today to get some more real estate tax receipts. One property had a transfer of ownership and this is needed to make sure the division is done correctly. Of course they don’t automatically sent receipts unless the check box is marked. Wasn’t in this case. Also mailed a bunch of KS corporation/LLC tax returns (they aren’t able to be efiled yet) and some Secrectary of State returns with the typical $55 fee. Also some franchise tax returns (these entities have a net worth over $100,000). Glad to get this all done.

Stopped to see about getting an oil change, long overdue, but they were filled up and not able to schedule for tomorrow since the computers were down. Guess others have their rough days too. Picked up info at 6PM in Durham from a new client and that went well. Also got some more 1096 signatures. Need to efile those by the end of the month.

Ate at KFC/Long John Silvers in MP with Jim. Not as noisy as it was last time I was there and apprec the relatively calm atmosphere. Stopped at WalMart and just happened to be behind a client with her children who is in the midst of a nasty divorce. Not final yet. I still need to do their tax return, but still waiting on some documents. Hope it will work out for a joint return and it seems like they may both be OK with that, with lawyer approval, of course. Most of all, I hope I can remain friends with both of them, but often that just isn’t possible. Also hope their young children will be able to cope with this sad happening. Reconciliation doesn’t seem possible at this point. So sad!!

must run along

Went to Church today with a brisk Kansas wind. SS was on II Cor 2 and on forgiveness and seemed to open up some old wounds in a very personal way. A quick chat with Titus N put things into perspective and helped get me on track again. Some comments in SS were: forgiveness means accepting the pain, we don’t always have the luxury of the offender saying they are sorry, but we must forgive anyway. Treat the person as tho the incident did not occur and treat them with love.

Julian’s sermon was on the kingdom of God. I appreciate how well he has fit into his role as a minister and his contribution to Center.

One outstanding happy item was getting to meet Misty. A very nice young lady, but unfortunately will be leaving tomorrow. She didn’t hesitate to mention that she plans to stick around after August :)

Glad to see Milton Ream in Church today. Sam D’s brought him here from Cherokee, OK & Lowell’s had him for dinner & plan to take him home again. He is doing quite well considering his foot amputation and still has his cheery smile. Also never fails to fascinate me with his endless vocabulary. Milton says things are going well for him.

Heard that Lester Yutzy’s father, David, had a setback today & is bleeding. Not sure what they mean exactly. He had heart surgery Friday in Montana and Lester is there with other family members.

Had tater tot casserole at Fannie & Willards, one of my favorite meals. Always good to spend Sunday meals with them.

Enjoy seeing the road construction progress on 50. An overpass is being constructed over Scott Rd, a mile E of the S Hutch intersection and 3 of the 4 pillars are up. Also saw that the big house 1 mile S of Inman is on wheels and being moved to make room for the new 4 lane betw Hutch & MP. More and more flags are being put up for land acquisition. A hot, sunny, windy day & a strange haze in the sky today.

Did lazy day things at home and left my tax work to the side. Thank you for the email Jenna! Good to hear form you.

Guess it’s time for bed now.

Happy Birthday Jonathan!!

Age 21-an adult in every way shape and form :)

Finished 2 more small tax returns and headed for Hutch for several deliveries. Also made several tax info pickups and was at Willards for awhile going over his info. That all went well & he is planning to go to Virginia some time in the near future.

Skipped a stop at Moundridge and went on to MP and got a bite to eat. Home & sent off several efiles and see that I am much further behind now than I was last year, and not a bit surprised.

Think I got enough done today to make up for my recreational activies last night, but must keep at it.

Finished up another big corp tax return and think that’s the end of them for awhile. Will be glad to do some easy ones again, pick up the volume,  and get them out the door. Pleased that the phone has been relatively quiet & few impatient messages.

Plan to make several deliveries tomorrow and if things go well, maybe the cash register will be busy too. Made a couple brief stops tonight & saw Greg Wedel and his family. They bought Richard Thayer’s farm and looks just like it used to, but just isn’t the same without Richard’s there. Greg & Charlene have a newborn since Monday & are just home from the hospital. Enjoy doing their taxes each year.

Did some stops at MP & later hung out with Jim since we haven’t done a lot together for quite awhile. He’s been helping a friend pack and move to Canton & he was told he could clean out the food in the fridge and take anything else he wants that’s left in the house.

We went over there & pounded the door in and were greeted with the kitchen oven door open and turned on high since that is the only source of heat in the house. The kitchen faucet was running & the lights were on. Why turn them off if you don’t have to pay for them???

We found a hammer and ice pick and proceeded to chip away at a 10 inch thick chunk of ice in the ice box & rescued some hamburger & sausage that have been trapped in there for who knows how long. About 10 onions rolled out onto the floor, but just left them in the debris at the front of the fridge. They would have distintigrated if we attempted to pick them up. Broken eggs were found in the fridge door compartment that Jim says have been there for months. So long, in fact, that they didn’t stink anymore.

Saw a mountain of cigarette butts on the carpet and other things too frightening to relate here. Next week this structure is to be bulldozed and hauled away, along with all the numerous items in the front yard. This property has been condemned for some time now & the end is near.

Will also say that Jim is an excellent housekeeper for a guy and it was nice to be back in civilazation again once we returned there. Glad for the change of pace tonight, but must make up for lost time tomorrow.

Went to Ernest Kendrick’s funeral today in Gypsum. Life was very tough at the end and the family has expressed a lot of relief that his suffering is over. Saw a lot of people I haven’t seen in a long time. Fun to reminisce about the old days (the 70’s)

Cont on endless corporation tax returns & got a bunch of forms signed, sealed and mailed. Sent 5 efiles today and hope they all are accepted.

All the corporations are done that will get done now & have 4 extensions sent off. About usual. Glad all the property tax is done. Made it through the last deadline before the big April 17.

Then…I did a foolish thing & attempted to download an update via rural Kansas telephone lines. Made it to 70% done when it timed out at 2:30AM after about 6 hrs. Should have known better than that, but tired it anyway. Got a lot of other stuff done on my laptop while I left my desktop totally unused except for the update. Guess I will wait for a CD update.

Rec 2 emails tonight. Jacob sent me his big speech outline for chapel tomorrow on worrying, or more appropriatley, why NOT to worry. Looks like he’s all set.

Josh sent me updates on Monty Beisel, a football player originally from KS. I know Monty’s father & grandmother. Looks like he’s in demand now.

A cold, cloudy windy day and guess I shouldn’t be surprised since the calendar still says it’s winter. Spring is around the corner and it’s official arrival won’t be a moment too soon.

Spent most of the day on a big farm corp tax return. Discussed stock balances with FCS. Never figured out why you have stock when borrowing from farm credit services. Then the dreaded Domestic Production Activies Deduction dashed all hopes of finishing this tax return today. This relatively new code section never fails to give me a headache every time its accessed.

Also did payroll at TRG. Today would have been Uncle Warren’s 69th birthday. Another day of memories and the reality of someone special not here with us anymore.

Got the rest of the property tax renditions copied and double checked and ready to mail & delivered to the US postal service in Hutch with handy late 9PM last call for mail.

An excellent high school program at Center tonight and a packed out crowd. Lots of German songs and even a Latin song in among the beautiful & more beautiful program. Jacob did well with song leading and even did the hand motions for our singing pleasure. And…John Miller conducted a song, also to our enjoyment. Nice solos by various ones and will mention an “alleluia” solo by Jacinda. ALL were well done.

THEN….I was informed I was to go to McD (also known by another moniker I won’t stoop to using). Yes, I would like to think I will do ANYTHING for my special young friends………….EVEN, dine at McDonald’s. At John’s wise suggestion I had a salad which proved very tasty AND healthy….AHEM!! Maybe some of you others should have heeded this advice (including you John) :) My table mates assured me they will run several miles tonight to ward off artery clogging substances they may have ingested tonight. Had a great time with my young friends. You are ALL very special!!

Sorry to note the absence of my good friend Matthew who has sustained a back injury of some sort. Wishing you a speedy recovery Matthew!!

Also had a good chat with Josh later tonight and caught up with the happenings of his life. And also a nice text message from my good friend Mark Nisly, had a very brief call, but hope to chat again soon.

A full day and more income tax on the horizon. Corporations due tomorow…aahhhhhhhhh!!!!

Up all last night totalling spreadsheets and sorting expenses on a large farm corp. Glad it balanced the first time through. Then sorted all the different columns into appropriate income and expense categories. Done about 6AM and went to bed then. This kind of job needs to be done when I can have complete peace and quiet. At least that’s the way it works for me.

Slept till Noon and cont on this corporation tax return and made several phone calls which were productive for the most part. Made sure all the property tax renditions are done and signed and took a large stack to the Saline County Courthouse, dropped off a used toner cartridge at UPS to be recycled and then to Office Max for 2 more toner cartridges and another 10 ream box of 92 bright paper which totals 5000 sheets. Amazing how quickly a box that size is used up.

Also stopped at Durham for more bank statements and a property tax run. Later went to Hutch for some more tax documents & to drop off some property tax statements and to get corporation Secretary of State forms signed, executed & send off the $55 annual fee that all corporations and LLC’s have to pay for the privilege to do business in KS.

Stopped by Jim’s on the way home & he was watching an action packed movie, but even that couldn’t keep me awake for very long. Finally gave up and went on home. Had my annual McDonald’s shamrock shake. (yes, that is one item I will eat from McD).

Hope to finish 2 more corps tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Loyal!!

Did a lot of this & that & didn’t get much of anything done. Finally received a loan history for one client I have been waiting on for 5 months. Corp deadline is Thursday, so came just in the nick of time :)   More fun in store.

Rather depressed about a client I’m not sure I can continue working with. Still not sure what to do. Can’t seem to get this off my mind, but God knows what’s going on and want to open up for His leading.

Another sobering event was the death today of a close family friend, Ernest Kendrick. His sons were in boy scouts with me & we spent lots of time together. He was a scoutmaster or assistant SM after Fred moved away. At least that’s what I remember.

This is a good time to do the more mundane things that don’t require lots of brain use, like addressing envelopes, getting tax folders marked & ready, filing,  etc etc.

Dad seems to be on a roll and improving more each day. PT going well, but still painful.

Looking forward to the school program on Wed. I’m sure all of you involved will do a great job.

c u all then

Happy Birthday singer!!

Went to Church & SS was on the last half of II Cor 1 and studied the relationship between Paul & the Church at Corinth. James Shetler had the sermon on Jesus being Lord & Christ. We were dismissed at 11:38AM which is a record as far as I can remember. James had a lot to say and said it well in a relatively short time. Counted the offering with Larry. Then a nice long nap at Willard’s before heading off to Hillsboro.

2 pts when I arrived and we doubled occupancy to 4 and it was another wild night of endless call lights and restless pts crawling out of bed. I was exhausted after only minutes there and never really let up. I was wishing I could crawl into a bed for a snooze & here all these people with that privilege wanted out of bed. Frustrated with the injustice of this. Oh….I get paid to work there, so that needs to be considered as well.

Had a very troubling phone call today from a large client and I am considering dropping this person immediately because of a recent development. To top it all off this is a close friend. I just wish this would all go away and just be a bad dream….

btw singer, if it sounds like I’m dissing McD it’s because I really don’t care for their food. I must agree, however, that the breakfast items are rather good. It’s the main menu items that aren’t palatable in my humble opinion. Appreciate your input:)
