Ended up staying up all night since I was on a roll with obtaining user #, passwords, PIN’s, account numbers and all sorts of things like that.

Placed orders online for next springs tax software, W-2 & 1099 forms & envelopes, and CCH online. Even with wireless this took an enormous amount of time. One order didn’t appear to go thru and no confirmation & even tho I know better, I placed the order again. That foolish move meant a customer service call at 7AM to delete one of the orders. Hope the IRS envelopes have the right city. Last year KS based addresses for the IRS were changed at the last minute.

Went to bed in broad daylight. Sleep didn’t last long since Seamless Siding workers arrived to replace all of our windows and put up new vinyl siding on our house. It will be my responsibility to pay for half of this bill, but I am glad to do so. I really like our new windows. Also, they qualify for an energy tax credit next spring for my parents.

There must have been 8 men working here today. All the new windows are in & a lot of the siding is up already. I think they will finish it tomorrow.

Went to Church and in the process ran over some old windows. What a mess of broken wood & glass, but no sense to fret over that now. I guess it really doesn’t matter. Thankful for no flat tires.

Went to my men’s meeting. Josh & Darrel are leaving for Bangladesh tomorrow & we heard all the details about that trip. Sam D had the topic on something like: What would I do different if I could raise my children again, a sort of book report on a book by John Dresher who is a rather famous author with local family connections.

DLM handed out new Church directories, one of which was purch by myself. Later went to see Ryan & inspect his stitched hand. Looks great & no indication of infection. Heard about his new job. Also priviliged to consume 2 very fresh cinnamon rolls.

Now it’s time to continue monotonous Quickbooks credit card entry.

Ran errands today. Cashed some checks & picked up some sales tax forms that need to be sent off today. One fun thing happened today that has never happened in my life. One of the tellers at the First National Bank in Herington has the same birthday and birth year as me-4-19-1960.

Went to Marion, Hillsboro, Walton & Canton. One check didn’t go thru so will try that one later. Ate a quick bite at Hunan with Jim before I went home, made sales tax form copies & mailed them in Salina well over an hour ahead of schedule. I’m getting setup with online sales tax filing for some of my  multiple point-of-destination clients. Hope to try that next month at least for one.

Mom & Dad went to Bennington to Cousin Janice’s for a Peterson descendent reunion since Lyle is in the area. I ran a few more errands in town before coming home. For some reason I was very hungry/craving a French Vanilla Slimfast. I’m getting to like those better than real milkshakes-a VERY good thing.

Enormous time spent on getting various tax agencies set up for efiling for some of my larger clients. Everything can be done except 941’s & 940’s. Oh how aggravating THAT is!!

The siding people are going to install new windows tomorrow so must get to bed & sleep while I can.

Stayed home for most of the day & took it easy. My parents put flowers on several graves & were back by 2PM. Had a heavy rainstorm about 6PM, but no severe weather. Continued on 2 long, drawn out tax returns & had one of them completed at 3AM. This particular client works night shift & gets off at 4AM, so she said I could stop by about 4:30AM, which I did.

A pleasant early AM drive to Herington & got the tax work gone over & signed in no time. Her 35 year old son was killed in a car rollover a few miles S of town about 3 weeks ago. His seat belt broke & he was ejected from the vehicle. Strangely, another young lady was killed close to Peabody, her seat belt also broke & she was thrown from the vehicle. And another strange seat belt issue is that my drivers seat belt needed to be replaced in my Civic due to sometimes jamming & not being able to pull it out. It has a lifetime guarantee, so was fixed free of charge.

Looked at all her pictures and listened to the details of the past few weeks. Another family crisis happening in the midst of all this tragedy & sadness. However, there was one humorous incident….

Recently Gwen & another son were at the cemetery placing flowers. With the recent rains, there were areas of the new grave that had settled & she tried to smooth it out with her feet. All of a sudden she sunk in to above her knee with one leg & the other leg was sprawled out in a most unglamorous fashion. Thankfully her son, Justin, was there to rescue her as there was no way she could have gotten out on her own. Yes, there can be laughter, even after a funeral. Not sure how many witnessed this incident, but she did say that Clint would have found this quite humorous.

It was daybreak by the time I left & I enjoyed the early AM peacefulness & birds singing as the sun was rising.

Today’s SS on the last half of II Pet 1. Glad to have Josh in SS today. John was missing, but doing the Lord’s work at the prison today with his singing group. Heard they had an early start today. Next week is Michael Yutzy’s baptism, so we will be praying for him this week. Snuck out at 11 so missed the sermon, but not planning to make a habit of that. Had to leave at this time so I could arrive at cousin Bryon’s wedding on time. His bride’s name is Janelle.

Saw several damaged signs in Hutch from the storm Friday night. Didn’t hear of any significant damage in the Church community, but other areas of the state were hit hard, such as Quinter. My parents were travelling home from Rebecca’s 8th grade graduation in CO and being made aware of a tornado crossing I-70 between Park & Quinter I made a quick cell phone call. Thankfully they were just pulling into the driveway.

Arrived at the wedding site with a whole 5 minutes to spare & nearly 4 hours on the road. The location was James Davis Hall in Wyandotte County Park in KCK, not far from Cabelos. A scenic location & fairly rugged up & down driving conditions for my silver friend, esp rugged was the parking curb, which once again has scraped the bottom shroud thing off the bottom of my car. Oh well…

Hot & humid conditions forced the outdoor wedding inside & that was perfectly fine with me. A nice wedding & reception and caught up with several people including Mike & Nancy, Liam & Sarah & 2 children from Long Island NY. Also compared tax prep notes with Jason who is located in Coffeyville. He also is not fond of Oklahoma tax returns.

Huffed & puffed my way up the incline back to my car & headed on home. I had contemplated going to Lyndon AM for Church tonight, but they didn’t have Church tonight, so that will have to wait for another time. Encountered quite a thunderstorm on the way home, so that gave me some entertainment & helped sustain wakefulness.

Today I slept in, but got quite a bit done this afternoon. Mostly filing papers, clerical things with tax work & checking up on some efile acks that haven’t come in yet. Made a call to warm of sales tax due Tuesday, one day later since Monday is a holiday. Also pulled some weeds today. Mostly the bindweed kind which are really quite easy to pull & one pull can pull quite a bit of unwanted green out. That is gratifying!

Went to MP to see Jim & we ate at the German Buffet. Lots of ham & fried potatoes & ham gravy. YUMM. A little short on verenika tho. Then we went to Walmart to pick up some cemetery flowers. This is going a be a “for real” Memorial Day for Jim & not a fun holiday like it used to be.

Went to the Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery by 56 & it just amazes me how many connections I see there. So many people I have worked with at Salem over a period of almost 30 years are buried there. And of course a large number of Jim’s ancestors are buried there also & all those connections. Dark clouds looming overhead, but no rain today.

My parents left for KC for Bryon’s wedding tomorrow.

Need to study the SS lesson for tomorrow.
